the Speakeasy

The Relic Radio Listener Community

After the usual run through the cable channels, and the all to frequent disappointment in the lack of anything to watch, I've decided a bit of a movie marathon is in order. This being October, what is more fitting than some old horror movies?

A couple of months ago I picked up The Amicus Collection from Amazon. The name comes from Amicus Productions, a British company started by two Americans (or should I say Yanks?). Amicus was similar in style, and shared many actors with Hammer Films. The collection consists of three movies: Asylum, And Now The Screaming Starts, and The Beast Must Die. All three films feature Peter Cushing, though he isn't the main character in any of them. All three movies for $11.99 you can't go wrong!

And now....back to the films.

I have a halloween tradition where a friend of mine and I watch "hell house" every October. It's got everything a 70's thriller would need: Tight turtle necks, bell bottoms, british actors with bad teeth... Pretty good to watch. Plus it's based off a book by the same name from Richard Matheson. I recommend it if you're looking for something to watch.
